I don't know how attached Jacob Schmidt was to his 2000 Ford F150 pickup, but I bet he didn't want it to sink to the bottem of Battle Lake. But, that's just what happened when he and friend Russell Omann attempted to drive out to their fish house on Thursday, January 4th. Both friends managed to escape out the windows before the truck sank and were unharmed by the ordeal.
It's been unbelievably warm this winter in Minnesota. It takes 8-12 inches of ice on a lake to safely drive vehicles on it. Apparantly these two facts didn't connect when the two decided to take their trip out to the fish house.
